The E31 error code on a Monogram washing machine indicates that the drain cycle exceeded the maximum allowed time — water is draining too slowly. The control board activates the drain pump and monitors the water level sensor. If the water level does not drop to the expected level within the drain timeout window, E31 is triggered.

Common Causes of the E31 Error Code
- Clogged drain pump filter – The debris filter (coin trap) at the lower front of the machine catches coins, buttons, hair ties, and lint. When clogged, water cannot flow through the pump efficiently.
- Blocked or kinked drain hose – The drain hose can become kinked, crushed, or internally blocked with lint and debris.
